Craig Bellamy full of praise for Brennan Johnson
By Tom Vinall
The recent form of Spurs winger Brennan Johnson has been well documented. To the point that someone said on social media recently that it looks weirder to see the original photo of the Brazilian Ronaldo at the 2002 World Cup, rather than the edited version that has Johnson's face on it.
This is the type of content that gets produced when you are on a run of form like the Welshman is, and that was midway through this run, so imagine what it is like now he has seven goals in seven games. The Spurs winger added to his fine form for Ange Postecoglu's side with a goal for Wales in their nations league showdown away to Iceland, although they weren't able to hold onto the lead, with Johnson being taken off as a precaution at half-time.
The good news in that regard is, with the yellow card he had picked up beforehand, the 23-year old is now suspended for their home game against Monetenegro and will have extra time to rest and recover ahead of the showdown with West Ham United next weekend.
His national team manager Craig Bellamy has said that he has not noticed any difference with Johnson compared to the last camp in September (even though that was before this unbelievable run of form), telling The Guardian ahead of the game with Iceland: "He is a very humble kid, he’s just great to be around. The group love him. He clearly enjoys being here – he always has. He’s just the same as he was on the first camp [under Bellamy]. He’s great to be with.”
As a once top level Premier League winger, who played for the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, it can only be a good thing that Johnson is coached by Bellamy at international level. There is no doubting that this is the best period of the winger's career.
