Following the drama of an injury-time winner against Manchester City this past weekend, Tottenham Hotspur is headed north again to face Burnley; here are the XI Spurs should start.

Spurs’ win over Manchester City demonstrated some of the tactical expertise of Tottenham coach Antonio Conte. Shifting from his preferred 3-4-3 to a 5-4-1 provided the balance and compactness for Spurs to succeed against City.

The story, however, will be different against Burnley. City leads the league in possession at 67.9% per match, while Burnley is next to last at 38.5%. Having scored 20 goals on the season, Burnley will not be too expansive against Spurs, meaning the away side will need a new game plan to unlock what is expected to be a compact defence.

The Clarets are in the top 10 for goals against, conceding only 29 through 22 matches. A different game necessitates some changes from Conte but mostly in formation. Here is the XI we think the Italian will start against Burnley on Wednesday.
