While speculation and rhetoric continues to be rampant on Twitter, Tottenham have still managed to sign nobody in the current transfer window.

That’s right, bupkis, zilch, nought, nil, zero, nothing…. And most of us expected it. The deadline is fast approaching, coming at 11 pm GMT on Monday, Jan. 31. Usually I wouldn’t be so specific with the exact time, but knowing Spurs the way we do, we might need every nanosecond before the clock strikes 11.

Luis Diaz negotiations

In all honesty, nothing substantial has changed or happened since this story first broke on Monday. Some believe Diaz would prefer a summer move to Liverpool, while others, including the all-knowing phenom, Fabrizio Romano, aren’t so convinced.

Some reported that Diaz took issue with the prospect of joining Spurs, but those are unsubstantiated rumours. Tottenham are expected, if they haven’t already, to make a substantially larger bid in an effort to get this deal across the line.

Tottenham will have to pay closer to the £67 million release clause in his contract to have any chance at landing the talented attacker.

Tottenham have a slim window to get this deal sorted. Any misstep now will definitely end in tears. And, considering Daniel Levy’s history of undercutting bids, that’s incredibly concerning. Letting Diaz slip through their fingers will not be well received by Tottenham supporters, the majority of whom are prepared, if the prospective deal falls apart, for all-out revolt.

Adama Traore, Barcelona and baby oil

This deal was supposed to be done at the turn of the century, when denizens still used quill and ink to scribe letters. But here we are, inching ever closer to a complete and utter non-event. The latest out of the Traore camp has super agent Jorge Mendes offering his macho muscle man to Barcelona.

This, of course, could be a ploy to compel Spurs to meet their asking price. It could also be true, which might worry Spurs. However, Barcelona has less money than a busker on the streets of London and can ill-afford to spend unnecessary dosh.

Unless they figure out what is going to happen to Ousmane Dembélé first. And let’s be honest, even a solvent Barcelona can afford to pay £22 million on a player. Yet for some reason a financially stable Tottenham side must insist on quibbling over a few million pounds. Absolutely absurd.

Sofyan Amrabat

Spurs favourite. A loan with an option to buy is in the offing. Spurs supporters should be given the same sweet deal for their season tickets. This possible deal is said to be in an “advanced stage” of negotiation. Whatever that means. I used to think I knew until seeing “advanced stage” amount to bupkis repeatedly throughout the years.

At least Amrabat badly wants to be a Tottenham player. That’s something. And if Conte wants him, who are we to disagree?

The three aforementioned deals are still on the table, possibly. Maybe. Maybe not. Depends on personal terms, depends on what the agent had for breakfast. Depends on the amount of baby oil available in London. Depends on whether Antonio Conte will permit ketchup.

Next. Paratici made biggest Tottenham signing before transfer window started. dark

How about the most convoluted of them all. Depends on whether Daniel Levy can find a way to break open his impenetrable piggybank, actually commit to making bids that clubs don’t hysterically laugh at, which might help prevent an already angry supporters’ base from all-out mutiny.
