Tottenham Hotspur player ratings from 1-0 loss at West Ham United

Tottenham substitutes and coaches
Tottenham really didn’t use any substitutes despite using all three. There were only six minutes left in the match when Nuno Espirito Santo made his first change and then it was bringing off the one player who actually showed some forward push – Sergio Reguilon.
Bryan Gil – N/A
Bryan came on Reguilon and looked like he wanted to run at defenders but he never really got going. If Spurs cannot come up with a plan to make use of Gil’s talents soon, this looks to be another wasted signing.
Giovani Lo Celso – N/A
Lo Celso did manage 15 touches in just six minutes showing he wanted the ball, he just did little with it once he received it. Completing only 8 of his 12 passes, Lo Celso just didn’t have the time to get going and seems a man without a position.
Steven Bergwijn – N/A
I guess Nuno thought Spurs were winning and wanted to run out the clock, which is the only reason for a substitute at 90 minutes. To think Bergwijn was going to save the day is just praying for a miracle that is not going to come.
Coach Nuno Espirito Santo – 1
I defended Santo’s decision-making midweek in leaving the starters at home in the Conference League thinking they would come out with something on Sunday. Instead, Tottenham had one of their worst performances of the season. Despite not conceding three goals, Spurs could have played for three days and never scored such was their lack of intent. Tottenham has no passing patterns, no running patterns, and simply gives little effort. If that is not a team quitting on a coach – the third in succession – I’m not sure what is. At this point, a wholesale rebuild is needed with more deadwood than Dele and Winks that need to leave, including a coaching staff in way over their heads.
