Tottenham Goalkeeper and Defenders

Even with the injuries Tottenham is starting to develop consistency in a few places defensively and will have at less the same starting fullbacks for consecutive weeks.

Hugo Lloris (GK) – Hugo Lloris did not have a howler perse against Crystal Palace, however, his ill-advised pass to Eric Dier, led to the defender’s injury and Spurs losing control of the game. Lloris will want to make up for that incident and Spurs are going to need a big game from the goalkeeper to take away any points.

Sergio Reguilon (LB) – Sergio Reguilon has started this campaign much better than he ended the last. That is not to say he has quite been at the level he was to start last season offensively, however, on the other side of the ball, Reguilon has been strong. Known more for his attack than defence, Reguilon has shown a physical sie this season and will need that on Sunday.

Joe Rodon (CB) – After playing reasonably well in place of Dier last weekend, Rodon started next to Tanganga midweek and was again solid. Rodon showed he can run with forwards and will fight for the balls in the air. With more experience on the left side and in the league, Rodon is the smart call over Cristian Romero.

Davinson Sanchez (CB) – Maybe the biggest of the three South American absences for Tottenham Hotspur has been the absence of Davinson Sanchez. After a difficult ear last season, Sanchez has been very good this season, showing an expanded range of passing and better discipline than seen under the previous coaching staff. Sanchez is going to have his hands full on Sunday running around with Romelo Lukaku but he is more than capable of making the big Belgian’s day difficult.

Emerson Royal (RB) – After some questioned the idea of signing the third right back when there were already two on the roset, Emerson Royal will continue to get minutes with Tanganga out. Royal played all over the right side of the pitch against Rennes after spending 90 minutes chasing Wilfried Zaha around in his debut. It will not be any easier with Mason Mount and Marcus Alonzo both on his side but at least Royal can give as good as he gets and Spurs will need that Sunday.
