Tottenham projected 11 vs. Burnley on Sunday

It looks like Jose is setting up to give the partnership of Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez another crack. He started Toby Alderweireld midweek against Wolfsberger and rarely plays the elder statesman in consecutive matches, especially after an abbreviated rest. Dier and Sanchez have struggled as a tandem, but Spurs are desperate for options at centre back. Joe Rodon isn’t ready to marshal the rearguard as a starter in the first team, while Toby is in the autumn of his career. Personally I’d start Toby over Davinson any day of the week, but Jose has other ideas. And he’s paid slightly more to make these type of decisions, so the onus is on the Special One to get it right. Though I have serious doubts whether Davinson and Eric can ever get on the same wavelength.
Matthew Doherty enjoyed a sterling outing against Wolfsberger and should retain his spot at right back, though Japhet Tanganga might come back into the team. Doherty deserves a Premier League spot, but fatigue might force Jose to select Tanganga.
Sergio Reguilón, one of Tottenham’s best five players this season, returned to the first team in the loss to West Ham last week. He will be raring to go on Sunday, the Spaniard looking to win his first game with the club since going down with an injury against Sheffield United in mid-January. Serge Aurier is still unavailable, with his injury taking longer than expected to heal.
