Tottenham Hotspur went to the Hawthorns and won, something Spurs have not done in over five years, along the way we learned a few things about the team.

Tottenham Hotspur finished their early season stretch of winnable games with a victory over West Brom at the Hawthorns, a place Spurs had not won in over five years. In fact, Tottenham had only won twice in the previous 10 meetings with West Brom, so maybe the 0-1 victory was not too bad. Over the course of the match we had some things we know reinforced, had some concerns heightened, and saw a new sheet in the Tottenham playbook.

Harry Kane Delivers Again

We knew this, as if 200 goals in his 300 games was not enough, Harry Kane went ahead and netted his 55th game winner for Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon. As if we did not need reminding, Harry Kane is good in the air too. Everyone has spoken about his increase in assists, we here at HotspurHQ think is improvement in scoring in the air is even bigger.

Based on his sample of 200 goals, Kane had 33 headed goals, now 34 in 201. That 16 percent for his career is rather good. Not Peter Crouch aerial good, but good. This season Kane has taken his aerial prowess to a new level, as 4 of his 14 goals – 31% – have been headers, nearly twice the rate he has scored with his head over his career.

Just when you think this man cannot get any better, you look close enough you recognize he is improving so steadily you do not even realize it. Well, with three of his last four goals coming with his head, Kane is clearly head and shoulders above the rest right now. We should realize this improving facet of his game, no doubt the wingers do, and appreciate it as again I am sure the wingers feel the same.
