Son and Bergwijn lead the way: Tottenham player ratings in win at Villa

Son Heung-Min 9/10
Son struggled with his touch in the opening 20 minutes and wasn’t strong enough in the tack, failing to hold off defenders too often. He caused a lot of issues thereafter for Villa, but still lacked his clinical qualities we know and love. He flicked beautifully to set up Dele in the first half and scored on the rebound after seeing his penalty saved by Pepe Reina.
His winner is worth its weight in gold. Son was lively throughout, leading many of Tottenham’s dangerous attacks. Son could have scored four or five today, but his brace was vital in leading Tottenham to all three points. While not perfect, the South Korean deserves the highest rating for willing his side across the line.
Steven Bergwijn 8.5/10
The new signing was inventive and strong in his first away match for Spurs. He set Dele up for a first half sitter and was unlucky not to score himself on the follow up. Bergwijn played with energy and drive, filling beautifully the expectations as a front man. With a bit of luck, Bergwijn could have had a couple. He also drew the penalty which led to Spurs second goal. Impressive performance from the young man.
Lucas Moura 5/10
Missed.a clear-cut headed opportunity in the 84th minute to put Spurs ahead. Lucas showed some signs of intent, but struggled to show the incision Spurs need from him.
Giovani Lo Celso 6/10
Giovani Lo Celso looked rusty and didn’t really come into the match. He’ll be much better on Wednesday.
