Tottenham’s Harry Kane Happy to Win Golden Boot
Now that the 2015-16 campaign is over and Tottenham Hotspur have settled in at third place in the Premier League, Spurs striker, Harry Kane, is happy to look back on a successful season both for himself and for the Club.
An embarrassing and humiliating 5-1 defeat to Newcastle United left a bad taste in every Tottenham supporter’s mouth. But moments after that heartbreaking loss, the silver lining was the fact that Harry Kane had won the 2015-16 Golden Boot award.

For anyone to win the Golden Boot, it means that that player was the best goalscorer throughout the season, in terms of the most goals scored.
In Harry Kane’s case, he certainly was one of the best strikers this term, but it wouldn’t happen right away. Instead, Kane suffered through a dry spell — a brief sophomore slump if you will — wherein the 22-year-old managed to score one goal in the season’s opening nine games.
Murmurs of a one-season wonder started to pick up steam until the England international bagged a hat-trick against Bournemouth on October 25th.
Following that game, Kane would embark on an unprecedented goal scoring form that would cement himself as this year’s Golden Boot winner by notching 24 goals in the season’s final 29 matches.
Although it wouldn’t be enough to help Tottenham finish the year as Premier League champions, or even second place, at the very least Harry Kane can dispel the notion that last term wasn’t a fluke. And that two consecutive years as a 20-plus goalscorer shows that he is in fact, one of the best strikers in the country.
“As a striker there aren’t many individual awards you can win and this one shows you’ve had a good season throughout the whole campaign, that you’ve been a consistent performer,” Kane said on Monday (via The Guardian).

“I’m really happy to have won it, especially in only my second full season in the Premier League.”
“To finish second in the scoring charts last year and follow that up by winning it this year is something I’m very proud of.”
“Even early on this season when I hadn’t scored for a few games I was getting some criticism, so to then go on and win the Golden Boot shows I’ve had a great season.”
“It’s very pleasing for me to be able to answer those critics, but anyway I just concentrate on my own game, I know what I’m capable of and I’ve kept my confidence throughout.”
“I have to give a big thanks to the team, the staff and everyone at the club because without them I wouldn’t be able to achieve personal accolades like this.”
Along with thanking the team, the staff and everyone at the club, Harry Kane made sure to give a shout out to his teammates as well for helping him in creating chances and for always believing in him through the hard times early in the year.
“Obviously a lot of thanks goes to them because I wouldn’t be scoring goals if they weren’t creating chances for me,” Kane continued. “We train day in, day out to achieve goals like this and they’ve been a big part of this award.”

Harry Kane winning the Golden Boot for the first time in career is a special moment in of itself. But to also be the first Tottenham player since Teddy Sherringham (1992-93) as well as the first Englishman since Kevin Phillips (1999-2000), makes winning this award even more special.
“It has even been 16 years since an English player won the award in Kevin Phillips, so it shows I’m doing something right.” Kane added. “Like I said, I’m honoured to win it and hopefully this is the first of many.”
