Five Tottenham Players Make Provisional England Squad
Roy Hodgson has made his provisional 26-man squad ahead of Euro 2016. While the England manager must trim the number to 23, five Tottenham Hotspur players have made the list.
The 2016 UEFA European Championships are set to begin on June 10 and will run for an entire month until July 10. For England manager, Roy Hodgson, he has finally unveiled 26 players who will make his provisional squad before he has trim down to 23 men on Tuesday, May 31st.

Looking up and down the roster, it’s quite clear that Roy Hodgson has opted to go with plenty of youth this summer. There are some key veterans sprinkled here and there, but the 68-year-old has decided that he wants the entire country to have faith in their young players and look towards a bright future.
“The squad this time is younger, there are a lot of players that haven’t got a lot of international experience but they’ve shown over the last few games they’re an exciting, hungry and energetic bunch with a lot of running in the team.” Roy Hodgson said (quotes via the FA).
“All of these things are positives and we hope the faith we have in them is rewarded. The one thing I do know is they won’t let anyone down for want of trying.”
“I really appreciate the support from the general public over the last couple of years but I would remind them the squad is still young, the 11 that gets picked for the first match against Russia will not have much experience if we compare it to previous England teams.
“But if people can show the same faith and tolerance as the coaching staff who knows where that’ll lead us.”
As for the five Tottenham players who have been selected, it’s the same group who played during the last international break: Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker.

Defenders: Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Everton), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur), Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool).

The squad that Roy Hodgson has assembeld is no doubt talented and young, whether they could reach the finals is another subject entirely. Still, there’s no reason why England can’t believe in themselves and shock a few countries in the process.

In fact, the former England striker, Gary Lineker said it best with this tweet:
“Great experience for them. Give them their wings, take pressure off, have fun and see where it takes us.”
With as much as youth that the Premier League has seen with the likes of Tottenham’s five players named on this provisional England squad, Marcus Rashford and Ross Barkley showing flashes of brilliance, it’s best to go with young players and like Lineker said, give them great experience.
The end result will be one thing, but if England shows that they can hang with the big European national teams with a youthful squad then when it comes to the World Cup and the 2020 Euros, this year’s experience will have paid off brilliantly.
