Dele Alli has remained as Mauricio Pochettino’s favorite to start as the team’s attacking midfielder over Christian Eriksen and with his game improving as the season wears on, it’s not surprising to see Pochettino continue showing faith in the 19-year-old.

Alli’s play this season has ultimately cemented himself as one of the Premier League’s best young players to watch out for, for years to come for both club and country. Plus seeing him score a beautiful wonder-goal volley helps justify the Argentine manager’s decision to play Dele Alli in as many games as possible this term.

Here’s Dele Alli on his wonder-goal and the win.

Spurs TV: So here at Crystal Palace with Dele Alli. Dele, I think there’s only one place to start. Where did that come from?

Dele Alli: [laughs] “Oh you know it was a bit of an actual thing you know. If you’re reading too much into it, I was sort of in shock myself after. I think you can probably tell with my celebration. I didn’t really know what to do.”

“But yeah you know I think the lads all fought really well today. And especially to come back from 1-0 down and show the determination that we did. It was a great three points in the end.”

STV: That sort of technique, is that something that you can practice on the training ground or does it just happen in the moment?

DA: “I think it’s a bit of both. You know, obviously you can work on your finishing. Different kind of finishing. Volleys and stuff. So yeah, different things to work on.”

“But I don’t think you can’t really replicate a game situation. You know it’s just the sort of emotions you’re feeling. And you know I just like to express myself and I showed that today.”

STV: Earlier on in the game we went 1-0 down. Were you always confident that we’d get back into it?

DA: “You know we’re a really confident side. We never stop playing until the last whitsle and I think you can see that today. You know we have a great self-belief in each other as well.”

“And you know, we know we got a great squad with great depth. And you know players can come in off the bench and change the game and I think they did that today.”

“And you know I thought there was never really a point that the game was over today. And we just kept fighting until the end.”

STV: And it’s a fantastic end to a fantastic week. Three wins on the spin.

DA: “Yeah you know you can’t really ask much more than that. And I think the fans were brilliant again today. You know they kept us to keep going and kept us to keep fighting.”

“And you know I think the club is in a really good place and we just need to keep winning games and doing well.”

Next up, it’s Tottenham’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino.
