Conversation Corner: Tottenham against Swansea City
Christian Eriksen:
“Okay, Christian’s here. Christian, two fantastic free kicks. Let me just ask you about the game first, so what did you think?”
“It was an open game, it was a lot of chances in the game. But again, it was a fighting game — a lot of smaller tackles — and yeah, and small games in the game, really. But yeah, luckily we — still we’re lucky to get the one point but we wanted to get the three points.”
“Watching it we were just waiting to score the winner. Watching it we just ‘It’s gonna come, it’s gonna come.’ but I mean Fabiański’s ended up making nine saves.”
“Yeah no he did also first half where we had a few chances, we had some good saves. For our second half it was the same, even better even more, but yeah he kept his goal clean — all but two — I think we can say of course we had our chances, we created them like we do every game. Unluckily we don’t score as many as we want, but still it’s stuff that we can continue.”
“Okay I’d like you to talk us through your free kicks one at a time. Tell us about the first one when you stood over it.”
“Of course, I know that the keeper will either stay or go behind the wall. When I ran to the ball, I saw he took a step so I guessed for second post and luckily it was — I think it was even almost in the middle of the goal but he went so far behind the wall and yeah, lucky for me.”

“Second one there was something different on the second one, there was more power to it.”
“No a bit … yeah a bit wider, a bit more difficult. The thing is, if it’s going short corner it has to be really, really hard and a lot of pace. But yeah, luckily, I [chuckles] I felt that he knew that, I’d go short corner, so I went for second and luckily again it went in.”
“You had another one in the first half that he saved. Do you just get into a zone and know that when you’re standing over it, this is on target?”
“Yeah at the moment [chuckles] I do, I knew. I have my rituals, I have my way of knowing where the ball has to go. And I know with the confidence I have, that the ball can go it all. And if it’s to goal, it’s either a save or a goal, so yeah of course I’m going for it every time.”
“Just looking at the overall picture Christian, I mean that’s eight games in the Premier League now. We’ve got the international break coming up. We haven’t lost since United on the opening day. Where do you see us at the moment?”
“No doing really well. Of course we’ve been a bit lucky to come from behind twice, it’s nice we do that. But still I think it’s something that we need to work on. Two stupid goals, of course first one good a header one second one Harry, it’s a bit unlucky but yeah, I think we can take everything with us. Like you’re saying we haven’t lost in many games, we know that we can come back if we’re down and yeah we just have to keep showing and keep playing. “
“Talking about internationals. You’re coming to the end of — well everyone is coming to the end of their qualifiers — now then you’ve got a small matter of A.) Keeping Ronaldo quiet and B.) Beating Portugal.”
“Yeah both, awfully both. But no, we have a really important game, we always have plenty of qualifications of course. And now it’s really important, where it’s either all or nothing really and so of course we need to go and get a result and hopefully be a bit lucky as well.”
