Van de Ven and Romero are such a perfect CB duo

I don't want to — under any circumstances — remember the times when Spurs didn't have Micky Van de Ven and Cristian Romero as a starting center-back duo. Following a long-term injury for both players, it is refreshing to have them back as pillars of the Spurs' defense, as they simply seem perfect and complementary to each other.

While Romero brings his pinpoint passing range and fighting spirit, Van de Ven showcases his speed and progressing abilities that make this Ange team flow more fluidly. They provide a sense of control and solidity in both the defense and offensive phases while taking responsibility off the shoulders of young players like Lucas Bergvall, who played as a pivot six for most of the AZ match. The Spurs family definitely missed them both this season, and they undoubtedly will be pivotal for the team's success.
