Tottenham's interest in Conor Gallagher isn't new, and recent reports describing a number of road blocks to the deal are adding equally new layers to the challenge currently facing Johan Lange and the rest of Spurs' recruiting staff.

Footballing journalist Dean Jones recently spoke with GIVEMESPORT and described - amongst a number of important points - the English midfielder's desire to stay at his current club:

"Obviously, Gallagher doesn’t want to leave Chelsea. He can’t even think about it at the moment, as far as I’ve heard, because he just doesn’t want it to happen," Jones said.

Chelsea's struggles over the past two seasons are well-known, but nevertheless, the player has remained steadfast in his commitment to the club's mission.

Despite the unrelenting loyalty, however, it does seem that Tottenham could have the upper leg in a potential transfer race against fellow Premier League competitors Newcastle United:

"New links have started between Conor Gallagher and Newcastle, and it does not surprise me they would have interest, but I am not sure how far I would expect that to go," Jones stated. "If he does leave Chelsea, I have heard that him moving that far away from his family would not be ideal," the journalist continued.

It remains to be seen who will act first, but the same issue persists as both sides vie for the 24-year-old's interest: he simply doesn't want to leave Chelsea.

Tottenham could complete some serious business this upcoming window with Nico Williams also on their radar, amongst many other players.
