Italian journalist and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently spoke with GIVEMESPORT regarding Tottenham's transfer pursuits, indicating that the North London club are in the hunt for another defender.

According to Romano, "it's a possibility for Tottenham to move on different positions. Centre-back is a possibility."

Spurs completed some crucial business at the back-line during the summer of 2023, bringing in Dutch center-back Micky van de Ven who has been of the side's best players this season.

Tottenham also brought in Radu Dragusin in January, shelling out €25.00m (£21.5m) to Genoa CFC (Transfermarkt); and despite playing little thus far, he could have a bright future ahead at just 22-years-old.

Nevertheless, Romano believes that Tottenham are looking to add more numbers to the back and in the midfield as well.

"Midfield is something that they want to cover in the summer transfer window also, because the expectation is for [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg to leave the club with one year left on his contract. So the idea is for Tottenham to do something in that position, then there is a top talent like Bergvall coming in," Romano said.

Spurs have certainly struggled defensively at times, especially on set-pieces, and with the injury crisis of months past, it may not be a bad idea to boost Ange Postecoglou's options.

Sky Germany reporter Phillip Hinze has reported that Tottenham are 'interested' in acquiring the talents of 23-year-old French defender Mohamed Simakan, who is currently playing for Bundesliga competitors RB Leipzig (via GIVEMESPORT) .

It's too early to say, but if Tottenham are in-fact looking to bring on a new defender, and are simultaneously 'interested' in Simakan, then perhaps Spurs fans will see yet another young Bundesliga defender join the North London club next season.
