According to Joe Crann, a journalist who covers Sheffield Wednesday - the Championship side are interested in bringing Alfie Devine in on loan for the 24/25 season.

After a difficult start to last season, the appointment of manager Danny Rohl turned Wednesday's fortunes around and they finished the season very strongly.

Seeing the way that players have improved under the stewardship of Rohl, Spurs could send Devine to far worse places to further his development than Sheffield Wednesday.

Rohl was one of a few active managers who partook in ITV's punditry coverage of the European Championships, along with Ange Postecoglou himself.

Devine spent the second half of last season on loan at fellow Championship side Plymouth Argyle, who in fact lost 4-0 to Wednesday on the Championship's opening weekend.

The recently turned 20-year-old was part of the first-team pre-season campaign at Tottenham Hotspur, playing 116 minutes and showing promising signs - particularly in the win over Hearts in July.

Tottenham player reportedly tipped to leave the club

Wednesday have recruited well this summer and will be looking to push much further up the league this summer, having finished 20th after turning it around last season.

An upwardly mobile Championship club, that plays good football, with a manager who is very adept at developing individuals - could well be the perfect move for Devine.

Devine is one of the few players that Spurs have actually managed well when it comes to loans in recent times. His loan at Port Vale in League One last season proved very fruitful, with Vale getting relegated in his absence after he was recalled in January and sent to Plymouth Argyle.

The Argyle loan was slightly more hit-and-miss, understandably, with the step up in quality but there were still positive signs, and he still did enough to continue to be called up to England U20, following up from his previous call-ups.

Fans are very excited about Devine as a prospect, so let's hope that any loan can continue his linear development in the last year or so.
