Spurs dominate Everton: Five observations from the match
3. Odobert impresses in debut
Wilson Odobert was brought in from Burnley for £25 million plus add-ons. The price tag suggested he wasn't going to be a starter, but perhaps a rotation winger for the Europa League and Cup matches. Yet here he was, starting at left wing on Saturday. And he came to play.
While he didn't get himself on the scoresheet, his dribbling and ability to take on defenders was something Spurs fans hadn't seen out of a winger in a long time. He managed a shot on goal but also made a nice sliding tackle while tracking back. He was lively throughout the match, winning two corners and becoming a presence that needed to be dealt with.
The French winger had a few misguided passes, one that Everton almost scored on, but other than that, he was great throughout his 66-minute debut.
It also helped he was matched up against an Everton academy player, Roman Dixon, deputizing for senior fullbacks. However, the positive display gives Postecoglou something to think about.
