He did not mince his words as he showed frustration with Ange Postecoglou's side

Jamie Carragher has shared his opinion on Spurs after their opening weekend draw at Leicester City.

The Liverpool legend was asked by Dave Jones on Sky if the game was a setback to the clubs' hopes of finishing in the top four of the Premier League, saying:

"You’re right it [is a blow] there will be a feeling and you can see it in his [Ange's] interview with his head bowed a little bit. He will be disappointed, they were so much in control of the game and they’ve ended up sort of losing."

"It goes back to what I said at the start of the show that Postecoglou has almost taken Tottenham back to what we always associated with Tottenham and a lot of those are good things. Attacking play, great on the eye but you always feel that they can let you down or concede a goal."

"When you are so dominant in a game, to not come away with three points is criminal for them considering the opposition they were up against in a promoted team. It wasn’t like we saw Ipswich against Liverpool where it was this raucous atmosphere where it was difficult to play."

"It was like a pre-season friendly in the first half or the first hour. Leicester get the goal from nowhere, then they are up and could actually go on to win the game with the Jamie Vardy chance probably being the best chance after Leicester equalised. I think that is a bit of a blow for them."

Carragher, as a neutral, still shared the same frustration as many fans had after the game at how Spurs seized control of the game. You can't disagree with any of the things he said there, as frustrating as they are.

Seeing football teams do frustrating things can annoy you even if you don't support said team. So, imagine what it is like when the team you support does do the things that Spurs were or weren't doing, after 55 minutes on Monday night.

That said, he did predict Spurs to finish in the top four later in the show. He cited Chelsea's ludicrous squad turnover, and how in contrast, Ange has brought a togetherness and a connection with the fans, as a reason Spurs will finish above them this season. So, not all doom and gloom from Carragher after all.

Spurs are next on Sky Sports for the trip to Newcastle on the 1st of September, 13:30 kick-off BST. Let's hope that it is better than the recent visits to ST James' Park, and give a reason for Carragher to be more positive when analysing Spurs post-game.
