Ange Postecoglou was asked about Emerson Royal's recent departure to AC Milan this summer and had nothing but good things to say about the Brazilian full-back.

"Yeah, Emi super guy, great pro again. It is one of those decisions you have to make when you are trying to change squads. Really popular amongst the group and not just because he is a great guy. He didn’t play a lot last year in his preferred position, but you wouldn’t know it the way he trained every day. He is the hardest worker at training and really top guy.

He is a guy you would want to spend time with. A big heart, loved by all and I think it is a fantastic move for him. He will love Milan, it is a big club he has gone to and it is one of those things that happen in football where it is not really an aspersion on him that he is not part of this. It is just other things aligned. I think it is a win for him and it allows us to continue rebuilding the squad in the way we want.”

It is reasonably well documented that Ange takes the personality of players very seriously. He does thorough background checks when signing players, and stresses the importance of squad harmony.

Despite not being the best player, Emerson has been very popular amongst the Spurs fanbase for his infectious personality, and these above quotes from Ange Postecoglu back that up.

Despite not playing much last season, and playing out of position when he did, as Ange alluded to above, Emerson got on with the job at hand without complaining or making a fuss and made Ange's job easier for him from that point of view.

It is best for everyone that the seemingly never-ending transfer saga to AC Milan ends, and everybody can move on and hopefully have success. He goes with the best wishes of everyone at Spurs.
