5 forwards Tottenham could sign, plus our top pick

There is very little doubt that Spurs will look to sign a new center-forward over the summer, so I will be looking at names that have been mentioned, the pros and cons, and who Spurs should or should not sign

Viktor Gyokeres - pros. The Swedish talisman has enjoyed an incredible season in Portugal's top flight. Since signing from Coventry City last summer, scoring 27 goals and provided 10 assists in 32 league games, helping Sporting regain the league title. The striker is a physical monster, equally as capable of holding the ball up and making it stick as he is running in behind the opposition defense, a complete striker. Gyokeres is mobile enough to press from the front as Ange wants from his attacking players, and as alluded to, is capable of contributing to the good football that he wants to be played. Gyokeres is an elite player who would improve almost every team.

Viktor Gyokeres - cons. Or should I say con, as in singular? The only con to signing Gyokeres is the price. Sporting has quoted his 100 million euro release clause, which equates to roughly 86 million pounds. A big fee, but worth it. Any doubts over the fee are completely related to Levy's reluctance to pay that sort of fee rather than any questions over the player being worth the money. He absolutely is, it is just whether or not the Spurs will stump up. Could they re-negotiate their sell-on for Marcus Edwards as a sweetener? Perhaps. 86 million is, of course, a lot of money. Still, if only Spurs had got a similar fee for a striker last summer...

Verdict - sign. At all costs. Liverpool did it with Virgil Van Dijk, Arsenal did it with Declan Rice. If you want a premium signing to raise the ceiling of the team, you must pay premium prices. Please do it, Levy.

So, in my view - Spurs should sign Viktor Gyokeres as their premium signing and if possible, sign Serhou Guirassy on top. Of course, with the outlay on Gyokeres, sIgning Guirassy understandably may not be possible. But if the Gyokeres signing does not happen, Guirassy should accompany a signing like Openda or Toney. COYS.
