There are a number of reports that Spurs are still in for a midfielder. Paul O Keefe says Spurs are investigating a defender and midfielder, whilst The Athletic says that Spurs are expected to sign "at least one more central midfielder", and that Ange wants an "all-action number eight".

Spurs' interest in Conor Gallagher over the summer was well documented, and Mundo Deportivo recently reported that Spurs held talks with Sergi Roberto, before talks broke down.

So, there is plenty to suggest that Spurs are in for another midfielder. Who could Spurs realistically bring in to bolster their midfield options?

3 midfielders that would bolster Tottenham's midfield

1. Frank Anguissa

The first option is Frank Anguissa from Napoli. The Cameroonian midfielder only has one year left on his contract in Naples and could be attainable for Spurs. The midfielder has Premier League experience, playing for Fulham in the 18/19 and 2020/21 seasons. He helped Napoli win their first Scudetto of the 21st century in the 22/23 season.

He certainly fits the bill of an "all-action eight" as a player capable both physically and technically. Anguissa is very good on the ball, and is able to turn under pressure, whilst also being able to eat up ground and cover space off the ball, which is very important for an Ange Postecoglu midfielder.

2. Quinten Timber

The second option is Quinten Timber from Feyenoord. Timber is another all-action midfielder who can do it all. His report on SofaScore states his strengths as; high pressing, playmaking, and long shots - whilst stating that the player has no outstanding weaknesses.

Pressing is a key element to a high-octane Ange Postecoglu side, so that is one important box ticked. Long shots can be really useful too. Spurs got nowhere near enough goals from midfield last season. After Son, Richarlison, and Kulusevski - Romero, with five goals, was Spurs' fourth-highest scorer in the Premier League last season.

Timber chipped in seven goals in 31 games last season, which could be a real help to Spurs. In addition, and this is related to his aforementioned play-making strength, the Dutch midfielder contributed nine assists and created 13 big chances, as well as creating 2.1 chances a game.

The 23-year-old has two years on his contract, and with the discrepancy between the Premier League and Eredivise, a deal could be financially viable for Spurs.

3. Manu Kone

Last but not least - Manu Kone. Kone is a French midfielder who plays for Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany - and is a fantastic player. His strengths, per SofaScore, are tackling and positioning and you can see that when you watch him play.

In the gold medal match at the Olympic Games, Kone made eight tackles in 105 minutes of action. He created a chance, had 2/2 long balls, three shots, and was fouled five times - showing he is capable on the ball as well as off it.

The French midfielder also has two years remaining on his existing contract, and whilst the Bundesliga has more financial clout than the Eredivise, it is still dwarfed by the Premier League and a deal could potentially be struck if Spurs were to explore that avenue.
