Tottenham Hotspur have never been the type of club to spend over the odds on players. In fact, they are known for producing their own stars from the academy, or by signing bargain players to upgrade them. That said, here are the 10 greatest bargain Tottenham transfers of all-time...
The 10 greatest bargain Tottenham transfers of all-time
1. Jürgen Klinsmann (£2m)
Tottenham made one of their greatest transfers of all-time in the summer of 1994, when they acquired Jürgen Klinsmann for just £2m. Already an established professional at this point in his career, the legendary striker spent one season at Tottenham, scoring 20 league goals. He also returned for for 1997/98 season on loan.
Of course, the time period of the 90s must be factored into this transfer fee. However, even factoring in inflation, that initial £2m investment into Jürgen Klinsmann, one of the greatest strikers of all-time, is an impressive bargain.
2. David Ginola (£2.5m)
Speaking of that Klinsmann loan spell in the 1997/98 season, one player who he partnered with was the legendary Frenchman David Ginola. One of the most stylistic wingers of his generation, Tottenham were blessed to obtain three seasons out of Ginola.
Ginola played for many clubs but arguably, he was the most impressive in North London.
