The substitutes

The absolutely cherry and icing on the cake was delivered in stoppage time when Timo Werner absolutely burned Kyle Walker on the outside, before having the composure to fire a low cross towards the back post, which fellow substitute Brennan Johnson bundled over the line.

With Mikey Moore having a medium term illness, and Richarlison and Wilson Odobert being injured, Werner is going to be playing plenty of minutes in the coming games. Whilst mentioned above that Son may start against Roma, there is definitely the possibility of Werner getting the nod on the left hand side.

One month ago, fans would have been up in arms about that. Now, however, you feel there would not be much outrage at all. Elsewhere, it was nice to see Djed Spence and Lucas Bergvall get minutes, even if only briefly. A real shame that Spence is not in the Europa League squad - these upcoming games would have been ideal.

What a game, what a performance, what a team. Absolutely no bad performances from any player, and certainly not from the gaffer. Let's keep this up.
