3. Pochettino prioritizes youth development

The Argentine gaffer invests time in youth development.

I hope that’s as refreshing to read as it is to write. Unfortunately, neither Conte nor Mourinho gave two hoots about Spurs’ youth.

They relied on a transfer windfall that was never forthcoming during Pochettino’s reign. Even when Tottenham was down to no strikers, Mourinho preferred Son Heung-min as the lone frontman rather than giving Troy Parrott a long-anticipated and well-deserved Premier League start.

Nothing changed with Conte, who probably had no idea when the youth teams played, let alone trained.

Pochettino is the polar opposite. He cares about the youth, knowing it can be crucial to future success.

But why would Conte or Mourinho care about youth development when they only planned on being around for a year or two?

Tottenham has a solid youth system and needs to prioritize individual assets’ development. Pochettino can provide that and create a system where Spurs don’t need to rely solely on transfer market talent.
