Keep Kane and the front-line firing

One of the best parts of the pre-season has been the performance of the team talisman, Harry Kane. Kane is already in top form with five goals in just three matches. Although not as prolific, Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski will want to keep the connection with Kane.

Mourinho is known for setting up his teams where they are difficult to score against; Saturday will be no exception. As Tottenham prepares to face any number of low-blocks and defence-first formations in the upcoming season, playing against Mourinho and Roma is truly the perfect preparation.

Perfect, assuming that the team can unlock the defence and that starts with the front three continuing to fire as they have been.

Keep an eye on NK for AS

Although Conte and Fabio Paratici will be watching Spurs very closely as the team finalizes preparation for the season, there are two players from Roma they may be watching more than others, and both have the initials NK.

Nicolo Zaniolo has been linked heavily with Tottenham in the Twitterverse. The young right winger may be a strong performance away from sealing Spurs’ Italian leadership’s desire for the Italian attacker.

Zaniolo is undoubtedly talented; however, with two ACL reconstructions at just 23, there are questions about his long-term health. While a strong performance cannot guarantee his knees, it does show something. Some believe Zaniolo may be the creative attacker Spurs are lacking; fans may get to see for themselves on Saturday.

If Zaniolo is nearly a household name for most Spurs fans, Nicola Zalewski likely is not. Zalewski is a Polish left midfielder who could be the long-term solution at left-wingback that Conte is looking for. Only 20, Zalewski may or may not be ready to step in immediately and compete with Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic.

Zalewski had made 26 appearances for Roma’s senior team after tearing up the Italian Primavera for the club’s youth team.

Maybe Tottenham does not sign any more players, but maybe they do, and either NK could be one of them.

So those are three expectations, to see some potential transfer talent, to get some goals from our front three, and to enjoy an intense not-so-friendly, friendly.
