Of the four players to be left at Hotspur Way rather than travel to Korea, Reguilon is unquestionably the biggest surprise.

Ivan Perisic’s arrival certainly relegates the Spaniard to a support role; however, even after sharing minutes with Ryan Sessegnon last season, he is now clearly Conte’s third choice.

The Croatian’s presence does mean Spurs now have three LWBs, one more than needed, and in truth, Reguilon is perhaps the more sellable asset compared to Sessegnon.

The fullback was linked to both El Classico clubs earlier in the window, however, now is reportedly in line for a return to Sevilla on loan, although this could prove mutually beneficial.

Considering Perisic is already 33, he certainly isn’t a long-term option, so loaning Reguilon may be wise.

The Spaniard would likely play an entire season of first-team football, potentially returning as an improved player, whether that be for Tottenham or to be moved on permanently with a possibly heightened value.
