Two more who will leave Tottenham

Gollini’s loan did not work out, and Spurs can cut their losses and move him after just one season. With these other two players, Tottenham has given them both longer, but neither is part of Antonio Conte’s plans for the future.

Giovani Lo Celso getting sold low

Giovani Lo Celso was supposed to be the player that would replace Christian Eriksen. Joining Spurs on loan from Real Betis in the Summer of 2019, his deal was made permanent in January 2020. Lo Celso has made more appearances for Spurs than any other club, despite never breaking through at Tottenham.

Although he has featured more than eighty times for Tottenham, he only has eight goals and six assists to his record. Lo Celso managed three more assists than that – 9 – in 30 fewer matches for PSG. Further, Lo Celso scored twice as many goals with Real Betis – 16 – in almost 40 fewer matches as he has played for Spurs.

More a luxury player than a squad/rotational man in the Premier League, Lo Celso went on loan to Villarreal this past January and may make that move permanent. Reports from All About Argentina on Twitter suggest Villarreal can land Lo Celso for only about €15-18M plus bonuses. Given Spurs paid some €55m for the Argentine, it would be a sale at a significantly reduced cost. But, selling Lo Celso may be more critical than what Spurs get for selling him.

Time is up at Tottenham for Winks

Having joined Spurs academy as a child, Harry Winks is one of the player development success stories for the club. Winks worked his way up through the ranks and earned a place in the first team. After playing a starring role as Spurs smashed Real Madrid in the Champions League, Winks got a significant injury and was never the same player again.

The relentlessness and willingness to push himself that made Winks a fan favourite was gone. Winks can still pass the ball well and move it around the park, but his stick-to-itiveness on the defensive end does not suit Conte’s approach.

With over 200 appearances for the club, it won’t be easy to see Winks go, but we know Spurs can do better with only five goals and six assists during those 200 matches.

Likely there will be more than three players who leave the club this summer. However, we should expect three of that group’s names are Winks, Lo Celso, and Golini.

Next. Top Tottenham transfer target is no-brainer. dark
