New transfer window starts with finishing the old one for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur needs to complete several transfers this summer to appease coach Antonio Conte; that deals need to start with finishing the previous transfer market. 

Although he has an entire season left on his contract, Tottenham Hotspur has reached the point where things could go sideways with Conte. If Spurs’ hierarchy fails to back Conte in the transfer market, there is always the potential that the Italian could walk. While it is unlikely that he walks from a team he just took to the Champions League, which has Harry Kane and Heung-min Son on it, Spurs need to get better in the transfer market, and that starts with completing some unfinished business.

Tottenham loans need to be made permanent

Last summer, as cash was tight coming off a season without fans, Tottenham used the loan market to get an infusion of new talent into the club. Last summer, two players joined via loan – Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero – and then Dejan Kulusevski joined via loan this past January.

It seems unlikely that Gollini returns for another season – the Italian played less than 1,000 minutes in only ten appearances for the club. However, with Romero and Kulusevski, the fans may riot if the club does not make their deals permanent.

With both players, Conte has suggested they are already permanent members of Tottenham; however, finalizing those deals so that the Argentine and Swede are both full-fledged Spurs should be an absolute priority.

Deki was nothing short of a godsend for Spurs in the second half of the season. His play compliments both Kane and Son very well, and his five goals and eight assists in just 20 appearances show he can contribute. Romero is an absolute stud and has the chance to be one of the best defenders ever to wear lily-white if he can stay healthy. He had an excellent first season at N17.

According to transfermarkt.com, Romero and Kulusevski have obligations to buy if certain conditions are met. In fact, according to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have already triggered Romero’s purchase option.

Whether or not the contractual conditions have been met, both have passed the Premier League eye-test, and their permanent signings need to be the start of what needs to be a big summer for Tottenham Hotspur in the transfer market.
