Tottenham Midfield Ratings

After playing a few matches that saw the midfield bypassed for much of the game as Spurs leaned into the counter-attack, the midfield dominated for Tottenham against Burnley.

Left wing-back – Ryan Sessegnon – 7.5

Continuing to start and take all the minutes with Sergio Reguilon out, Ryan Sessegnon continues to grow for Spurs. Looking more confident on the ball, Sessegnon created several good opportunities for Tottenham and was unlucky not to get an assist to Son on two different occasions. Finishing the game on the right, Sessegnon has the confidence of Antonio Conte as well.

Central midfield – Pierre Hojbjerg – 7.5

After doing everything defensively against Arsenal, Pierre Hojbjerg dominated with the ball on Sunday in north London. Hojbjerg was ever-present in the park’s centre for Spurs and helped keep the ball moving and away from Burnley. He never had the big chance he did against Arsenal but he was calm and confident.

Central midfield – Rodrigo Bentancur – 7

Still not quite as sharp as he was a month ago, Bentancur got about the park on Sunday, making tackles and distributing the ball. He did his part in protecting the defence and had a couple of good attack-minded passes. He had one shot nowhere near the goal but can be forgiven for the effort.

Right wing-back – Emerson Royal – 6.5

Like Sessegnon on the left, Emerson Royal continues to improve on the right. Royal combined well with Lucas Moura on the right and had a couple of dangerous balls into the box. Royal had one excellent shot, which Nick Pope parried over. Continuing to look like a proper wing-back, fans should be pleased with Royal’s improvement.
