While Tottenham exited Villa Park with a perfect scoreline and result, there was two areas that will concern Antonio Conte going into the next match.

The best teams in the world are always looking for ways to improve, ways to ascend to the next level. Conte will be thrilled by the way his side put the match beyond doubt, but will still work on ways to improve before Saturday’s encounter.

With a ruthless attack and a resilient defensive performance, Spurs elevated the feel-good sentiment that is currently omnipresent in north London. In the pursuit of excellence, here’ three things Conte will be concerned about going into Saturday’s home test against Brighton.

2. Matthew Doherty’s injury

Matthew Doherty, who has been a revelation of late, was forced to exit the match yesterday with what appeared to be a dead leg. The Irishman tried to soldier on, but was unable to continue.

Conte will hope he is able to return for Saturday’s match, as he is currently Spurs in-form wing back. It’s great to have Sergio Reguilon back, but in a perfect scenario the Spaniard would start on the left with the Irishman on the right. That perfect scenario isn’t taking the seemingly perpetuallly injured Ryan Sessegnon into consideration

Royal has returned to the team and played adequately, but there is always a overriding feeling of uneasiness when he’s on the pitch, both offensively and defensively. At least Reguilon has fully recovered. Otherwise the injury couldn’t have come at a worst time for Doherty, who, in recent weeks, played some of the best football of his career.
