Tottenham players 3 and 2 on form

Bentancur and Kulusevski have hit the ground running for Tottenham. However, that has not always been the case with our next two in the rankings.

Third on form – Matt Doherty

For a player who looked to be on the way out during the winter window, Matt Doherty has wholly shifted the narrative. Finally getting a shot at his most natural position – wingback – Doherty has redefined the role for Spurs.

As much as anything, Doherty plays within himself and typically makes smart footballing plays. Showing he can do the job on either side of the pitch, Doherty should be in the club’s fans for the near term future.

Second on form – Cristian Romero

After missing a large chunk of the season with a massive left injury, Cristian Romero works to make up for the lost time. Romero can often be seen in the opponent’s box and pushing upfield with the ball as a defender by trade. Superb in the tackle and improving with his discipline, Romero has been outstanding.

Because of Romero’s aggressive play on the ball, Eric Dier can sit deeper defensively and play off of whatever Romero does not get to. A good passer and all-around aggressive player, Romero has been outstanding of late.
