Tottenham manager update: Spurs have the one we want

Whether for clicks or to stir controversy, outlets continue to report on Tottenham pursuing their next manager; HotspurHQ thinks Spurs have it right now. 

For some strange reason, outlets continue to report Tottenham being in the hunt for a new manager. If that is the case, the club indeed is spent. We can all remember back to last summer and the fiasco – putting it nicely – of the Tottenham coaching search. Now after canning the first hire, the idea that the club is still looking for someone other than the coach they have is ludicrous.

Tottenham has the best coach they possibly could right now, and anything the club does to disrupt that will be felt across the organization.

Spurs were lucky to get Conte

Following the dramatic firings of the last three Tottenham coaches, that Spurs were able to sign Antonio Conte is quite remarkable. After giving up on Mauricio Pochetino and immediately replacing him with Jose Mourinho, the same did not occur when Mourinho left.

The instability that came with Mourinho’s departure and the inability to find a qualified replacement spoke volumes about the club and the position. As too did the summer search for a coach, which left Spurs without a manager into the summer transfer window.

Then after the Nuno Espirito Santo experiment seemed to be failing in front of our eyes, to sign a coach the caliber of Conte was a real coup.

Conte brings stability and credibility to Tottenham

Beyond the coaching struggle from last summer, there was also a tiny transfer rumour involving Harry Kane. Some papers are already trying to move Kane again, this time more likely to Manchester United than City, but Conte provides Tottenham a fundamental variable in the Kane equation.

Unlike Mourinho, who tends to bring a circus with him, Conte brings respect and a plan to Spurs. That respect helps change the way people look at the team, as Conte is a winner; thus, Tottenham can be too. If Spurs are to keep Kane through the summer and even sign him to an extension, it will be because he believes in the team and the plan, which should be rooted in Conte.

Will Conte leave Tottenham at some point? Yes, his records show us that he will likely go before Dane Scarlett becomes a star, but not before Oliver Skipp returns from injury. It is never wrong to have some feelers out and to have a list in case of emergencies. However, fans and players are giddy with Spurs’ current coaching situation, and the club should be too.
