After getting over the initial shock of Antonio Conte‘s reaction to Tottenham Hotspur losing to Burnley, a fan can get behind the Italian’s provocative response.

No, Antonio Conte is not quitting Tottenham Hotspur, at least not yet. The belief that the Italian super-coach could jettison away from Spurs sinking ship seemed all too real in the aftermath of Conte’s tirade following the Tottenham loss to Burnley.

Conte shook the Tottenham universe

The first question in the post-match presser was when Conte said that he did “not want to comment about the game and comment only on the situation.” From there, Antonio went on for about five minutes about being honest and how things were not getting better with Spurs having just lost their fourth in five outings.

In isolation, maybe this was a coach just letting off some steam. However, Conte had just spent much of the prior week defending an interview that was perceived as showing the club negatively in Italy. After a triumphant win, instead of talking about that win, he defended his standing at the club. On the heels of this situation came what seemed almost like a resignation speech from Conte.

It is safe to say this video shook most fans and pundits alike. As the club lay relatively silent, waiting until well into the afternoon for even the first tweet of the day, questions only grew. Of course, Fabrizio Romano was there to soothe the fears of Spurs fans, letting us know this was just Conte being Conte.

Romano said that Conte “cannot accept to lose games.” and that he did this same thing at Juventus and Inter Milan after losses taking them very hard and personally. Of course, Ramano also noted that eventually, Conte left both clubs after not getting everything he wanted, but he had won first. Ultimately, Conte is unlikely to go right now, although anyone can guess what happens in the summer.
