2. Lack of luck and poor form closely related

When a team is in a rich vein of form, lady luck usually hangs around, lingering like a stage-five clinger. It’s the only time you want a stage-five clinger to hang around. When things take a sour turn, lady luck scampers and hides away like somebody trying to escape a stage-five clinger.

Lady luck is currently nowhere to be found. Tottenham had a few chances in today’s loss and needed a bit of fortune to get back into the match. It wasn’t forthcoming. The old adage that you create your own luck holds firm, as Tottenham didn’t deserve lady luck’s help. Quite the contrary, in fact.

Form and luck are closely linked, so Spurs will have to rebound and recover before lady luck will make her long-anticipated return. Hopefully by then it’s not too late for Spurs’ top four hopes.
