1. Spurs can get Bale on a free transfer and diminished salary

Tottenham can, if they so desire, land Bale on a free transfer in the summer. So is it not worth the minimal risk of bringing him back for one last kick at the can?

Additionally, Bale will be forced to take a largely diminished salary. The aging, injury prone legend will be gleeful at the prospect of another another shot in the Premier League. He should be amenable to a paltry salary compared to the exorbitant, outlandish £600 000 weekly fee he earns at Madrid. While I’m not sure what amount it would take to get Bale to sign on the dotted line, it would certainly be a fraction of his current wages.

Bale, though, isn’t a good fit for Antonio Conte‘s high intensity, fitness-first brand of football. The Italian would have a hard time coming to terms with Bale’s obvious shortcomings. However, Conte, like any top manager, has a soft spot for elite talent who can win a match with one sweetly struck ball.

So there is a chance Conte will be willing to overlook Bale’s deficiencies to procure a match winner with an almost-unparalleled winning pedigree.
