Three reasons Dejan Kulusevski fits into Conte’s plans at Tottenham
By Gary Pearson
2. Kulu’s versatility
The versatility Kulu offers has already been well documented, but it’s worth reinforcing just how important the Swede’s chamaeleon-like nature will benefit Spurs. He has played as a central midfielder, right winger, right midfielder, left winger, left midfielder, second striker and all-out frontman.
Conte would also probably be able to conjure up his magic to transform Kulu into a proficient wingback. Let’s not hold our breath on that one, though.
Suffice to say, Kulu can basically play anywhere. He has contributed goals from every position, most of which as a central midfielder.
Oh, and he can score with either foot. He has 11 goals with his left foot and is admittedly more comfortable with his dominant leg. Although he has also scored four with his right boot, so about a third as many with his less dominant foot. He is also happy to let fly from long range, which we saw evidence of late in last night’s fixture.
He offers Conte an entirely different attacking option from the likes of Moura and Steven Bergwijn, yet is still comfortable flying forward on a blitzing counter attacks. He has the frame, size and ability to hold up play and can attack from either wing. If he comes close to fulfilling his potential, Tottenham have a dynamic, adaptable winner in their ranks.
