Five Tottenham positives from 3-1 FA Cup win vs Brighton
By Aaron Coe
Tottenham takeaway 2: Players are making runs again
When Spurs are struggling, it is often due to a lack of movement and slow, predictable passing. There was very few instances of players standing idly by on Saturday, making it difficult for Brighton.
Whether it is the constant availability of both wing-backs wide or the threat of one of the forwards running off of Kane, the movement was a common theme throughout the match.
The dynamic movement from Spurs contributes to the confidence on the ball. When the ball is passed backward, players run forward off it, which this team needs. The improved runs help the passing, just as the improved passing helps the runs.
Tottenham takeaway 3: Harry Kane is rounding into form
Whether it was dropping deep, like to his box to defend and clear the ball, or driving into the box to slide in and finish off the Seagulls, Harry Kane did it all on Saturday. It was not the first time we have seen Kane play a tremendous all-around game under Conte.
After a rough start to the season, Kane has found his rhythm and is scoring again as a result. Kane had five shots against Brighton, four on target. The only one that was not was an absurd chip, which Heung-min Son should have probably finished, though he was in an offside position. Now with 15 goals in all competitions, Kane is coming on at just the right time as the push for the top four kicks into high gear.
