Tottenham Hotspur did more right than they did wrong in a convincing 3-1 win over Brighton in the FA Cup. That is just one of many positives Spurs can take away from the victory.

Sometimes a scoreline in football is not indicative of the game. However, the 3-1 Tottenham win over Brighton was well deserved and appropriately reflected Spurs dominance. Tottenham put together a near-complete 90 minutes, an excellent sign for a team on the rise.

Here are five positive takeaways from the big win.

Tottenham takeaway 1: Spurs are better on the ball

Over the last couple of seasons, there have been times where simple things like holding a ball or making a short pass were difficult for Spurs players. These mistakes were particularly apparent under an intense press. Since Antonio Conte‘s arrival, Tottenham has improved with the ball, evident across the pitch on Saturday versus Brighton.

The confidence on the ball for Tottenham, even deep in their own half when under pressure, was apparent throughout. Most importantly, no one panicked nor committed the kind of killer turnovers that previously cost Tottenham dearly.

Tottenham passing as well as they did and playing as confidently as they did is something this team can build on going forward.
