Tottenham Hotspur player ratings from 3-1 FA Cup win vs Brighton

Rating Spurs Defence
Left-back -Ben Davies – 7
Like Reguilon, Ben Davies likely thought he would have his hands full with Lamptey on Saturday. Instead, Davies was never really challenged defensively and could comfortably pass and maintain possession most of the day. Davies did what he does back in his comfort zone at left-back in the three-man defence.
Centre-back – Cristian Romero – 6.5
With Eric Dier out of the squad nursing an injury, Cristian Romero was immediately back in the starting line-up in Spurs defence’s heart. Romero showed his value and ability to read the game multiple times, including a nice block of Neal Maupay in the first half. However, Romero was not tight enough on Bissouma on the goal, and he later jumped a pass in anticipation, leaving Maupay open in space behind him. Romero was fortunate Hugo Lloris stood his ground and made a good save, or else we’d be asking more questions about Romero’s performance.
Right-back – Davison Sanchez – 7.5
With Romero in the middle, Davinson Sanchez was on the right of the Tottenham defence only days after playing in South America for Colombia. Sanchez was strong defensively with a couple of excellent tackles. His composure on the ball under pressure was more impressive, which has dramatically improved and was on display on Saturday.
Goalkeeper – Hugo Lloris – 8
If not for Kane’s brace, it would probably be Hugo Lloris as the player of the game. Lloris had no chance on the deflected goal but did excellently in the first half to keep Spurs two goals ahead after Bissouma had a shot deflected. All three of Lloris’ official saves were strong, including against Maupay on a breakaway. Lloris almost fumbled one in the 95th minute but recovered in time to keep possession.
