Spurs at centre-back

Just as right wing-back was an area, many thought maybe addressed due to needing an upgrade in the window, the same was said for the left-back position. Ben Davies has done an excellent job on the whole since Conte’s arrival, but the cover behind him is minimal, and there truly is not another natural left-sided centre-half on the team.

Outside of Davies, Tottenham has several good right-sided and middle centre-backs on the roster. Cristian Romero, Davinson Sanchez, and Japhet Tangage provide ample cover for the right side. Then Eric Dier and Joe Rodon provide two players to cover the middle position.

Although Rodon has played on the left side for Wales, he has not for Spurs, and none of the other players are convincing there. If there is a position that may be short at some point, it would be if Davies gets injured, which might explain why none of the central defenders were sold in the window.
