Part 3: So what is Tottenham seeking?
The bottom line is that Spurs are looking for real depth. As it looks like Liverpool is going to sign Diaz, it is not because Saido Mane is leaving, it is for the depth of the team. Just as Vlahovic would give an option with and other than Kane it would mean depth. And with these players not just having anyone at those positions but true, class depth.
If you look at Chelsea and their ability to replace Jorginho with Kante or Lukaku with Pulisic; they are swapping class for class. Diaz for Mane, Jota for Fiminho, are all legitimate alternatives. The days of Son replacing Kane and no one replacing Son has to end for Tottenham to advance.
If Spurs want to play with the big boys in the Premier League, they need a deeper team of quality. While these linked moves would make sense if completed in an effort to strengthen the squad, that lack of success, buying or selling, continues to make the team weaker and the fans more frustrated.
Next. Where are Tottenham outgoing transfers?. dark
So did Spurs have a plan, yes to make the team deeper, now as for the execution, well that is a different story.
