2. Eric Dier available for selection

If you asked me last year whether Eric Dier’s availability against the Blues would dictate the result, I’d say you’re as bonkers as the feud between John Terry and Wayne Bridge. If you’re unaware of the said feud, please click on the link and read a tale stranger, and more entertaining, than fiction.

Dier’s absence recently has shown just how much Tottenham relies on their domineering marshal. Conte confirmed Dier’s readiness in a recent press conference. There are, however, a lot of questions about Dier’s actual readiness. One would assume, based on his immeasurable importance to the side, that he’ll play if he’s fit. The main concern revolves around how much rust Dier has accumulated since New Year’s Day, his last match prior to going down with a muscle ailment.

If Dier is good to go, expect him to play simple and safe, until he gets his wits about him. Regardless, his presence will provide Tottenham with a massive boost, both on an emotional front and in terms of the team’s overall level. Speaking of emotions, the next factor could prove most important to Tottenham’s chances of ending their winless streak against their loathed adversary.
