The stunning victory against Leicester last night did nothing to paper over the existing cracks at Tottenham, starkly reminding us of two immediate transfer needs.

It was incredibly easy to get completely lost in the elation and raw emotion of Spurs’ improbable, odds-defying victory at The King Power Stadium. But when you take some time to reflect, you’ll recall Tottenham was on the cusp of what would have been a terribly disappointing, dejecting loss.

Before I incite a major revolt, I’ll clarify: Spurs were fully deserving of the win.

They bossed proceedings and created enough chances to score a half dozen goals, with Harry Kane the primary source of Spurs’ persisting threat.

But all was not perfect. Far from it. Spurs were out of sorts defensively. To put it less diplomatically, Tottenham’s rearguard were in tatters. Leicester created a few chances on the counter-attack, most of which Tottenham had all sorts of difficulty suppressing.

Here’s the two most urgent transfer needs last night’s match in the Midlands once again reminded us of.
