Former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen, who has made a remarkable recovery just seven months after suffering a life-threatening cardiac arrest, is expected to return to the Premier League.

Before anyone gets excited, Spurs haven’t yet professed any public interest in reuniting with the Dane. But it’s a prospective deal a lot of Tottenham Hotspur supporters have thought about.

Eriksen isn’t permitted to play in the Serie A after having a cardioverter defibrillator device installed as part of his recovery from the heart attack, which he suffered June 12 in Denmark’s first group-stage match against Finland. The pacemaker-like device can prevent future cardiac arrests by electronically jolting the heart to restore its proper rhythm. The Premier League has no such rule in place, paving the path for his return to England.

There’s also a fair few reasons Spurs shouldn’t put their name in the hat to land Eriksen, but here’s three reasons the club should give him another shot.
