1. The return leg at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium offers glimmer of hope

The best thing about two-leg semifinals is the need to play the second leg. Chelsea are in a commanding position. There’s no denying it. But Tottenham return home and Conte should have Eric Dier and Sergio Reguilon, along with the rest of the first team, at his disposal. Tottenham also offer an entirely different proposition at home.

They are, in every way, a superior side in the friendly confines of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Again, there’s no escaping the gravity and improbability of the task ahead, but at least Spurs didn’t lose the first leg by three or more, which, based on the run of play, was a distinct possibility. In truth, Spurs can consider themselves lucky to go home only trailing by two.

If Tottenham manage an early goal at home, you never know. Stranger things have happened, right?
