Three reasons Tottenham should choose Vlahovic over Lukaku
By Gary Pearson
1. Dusan Vlahovic is a franchise player, a long-term solution
Dusan Vlahovic would represent a long-term investment for Tottenham. He’s a player Tottenham can build their entire future around. The 21-year-old is already the proven article, yet he still has another five years before he enters the prime of his career.
That bodes extremely well for any side who are lucky enough to land his services. He is not prone to leaving at the first sight of trouble and would be more amenable to devoting his future to one club, unlike journeyman Lukaku, who is always looking for the next move. Lukaku has arguably already seen his best years, while Vlahovic has his entire career to look forward to.
Tottenham is not a place you merely stop at in transit; it is a destination that requires devotion and loyalty, two qualities Lukaku embodies only fleetingly.
Vlahovic can also learn to perfect his trade through Kane’s wily, experienced guidance. Sure, Kane would probably be sold to Manchester City shortly after Vlahovic’s arrival, but at least the young Serbian would utilize their time together to grow, progress and improve. And there’s a distinct feeling that Vlahovic and Kane would complement each other much better than a Kane-Lukaku partnership.
