When you look up most improved, a picture of Eric Dier stares back at you. This man is fully deserving of all the praise he is rightfully receiving. From the doldrums of despair, Dier is a testament to what can be accomplished through an unrelenting desire and an unabating resilience of character.

He is marshalling Tottenham’s back three expertly, has played every minute since the gaffer’s arrival and is in the process rewinding the years.

Dier was once one of England’s most highly touted youngsters. His fall from grace was well documented but it looks like Dier has proven a lot of naysayers wrong. He still has a long way to go before returning to the national fold, but if he continues on this trajectory it won’t be long before Gareth Southgate decides to yet again track down Dier’s number.
