Spurs need to achieve some team goals

The first two hopes for the new year are around continuing to build upon, rather than tear down the team Tottenham currently has. While a year ago, the team was just starting to sputter and enter a death spiral under Jose Mourinho, now a year-on, things are different the hopes are again restored.

That said, Tottenham needs to deliver on some of the promises that his team has presented over the last several years. Spurs were close last season with the Carabao Cup, only to stumble across the finish line and limply fall to Manchester City.

While the Carabao Cup is again a possibility, so too is the FA Cup, and Spurs desperately need to win one of the two competitions. Given the ludicrousness of the team’s end in Europe and the distance to first place in the league, finding a way to get a trophy from one of the other two competitions is crucial.

Tottenham has gone far too long without a trophy and this team, this club, these fans, all need one and the time has come.

Beyond finally bringing home some silverware in 2022, Tottenham needs to again get back into Champions League football. Spurs are currently five points behind fourth-place Arsenal but hold two games in hand. Those six points are in theory enough to have the Lillywhites in a Champions League position and that is something the team desperately needs.

Maybe even more than a trophy, Champions League football brings extra revenue and prestige both of which can help the club meet the aspirations of their coach and their fans.

If Tottenham can keep their stars, bolster their squad, win a trophy, and return to the Champions League, 2022 will be a year to remember for all the right reasons!
