Projected Tottenham defence

Spurs continue with the three-man backline and given that Cristian Romero is not yet available again from his injury in November, there are likely no changes coming here.

Left-back – Ben Davies

Tottenham may be in the market for a left-back in January or the summer, however, that is not because Davies is playing poorly. Rather, Davies is just playing a lot and we can expect to see that continue over the next fortnight as the games continue to come quickly. Davies has shown improvement all around and has been a real threat pushing forward.

Centre-back – Eric Dier

Although he has not been at his absolute best the last two or three matches, there is no reason to think Eric Dier would not be starting again on Saturday. Although some time for Joe Rodon, even if just in the shop window for a loan, would be a good thing, it seems unlikely that Dier would sit. Having just played his 300th for Spurs in the league. Dier seems to have recemented his place in the team.

Right-back – Davinson Sanchez

Just as Tanganga could play at right wing-back, it is possible that Tanganga spells Davinson, Sanchez. However, we think the big Colombian is going to continue to get the nod. Sanchez has been more reliable under Conte and had a huge block to preserve the draw against Southampton in injury time. Clearly fighting for his spot in the team, Sanchez starts again.

Goalkeeper – Hugo Lloris

In what may be the first match of the last half-season he has with the club, Hugo Lloris is again going to start. While his contract is a really big deal, it has not done anything to hinder his concentration or performance. It is rare we see a goal scored that you feel the keeper should have saved over the last two months, such has been Lloris’ consistency.
