Spurs need another centre-back

This is no knock-on Ben Davies, as the Welshman has been excellent since Conte’s arrival and seems a very natural fit for the left-sided center-back position. However, Ben Davies has played a ton of minutes under Conte and the team has no natural back-up for him.

Joe Rodon has played the position for Wales but does not look likely to get many minutes there as things currently stand. Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga can both play there in a pinch as can Davinson Sanchez but all three are better elsewhere.

Tottenham needs someone to spell, compete with, and eventually replace Davies. Maybe that person arrives in the coming window as the depth at this position is thin.

Joe Rodon needs minutes

As we just noted, it seems unlikely that Rodon is going to be getting many minutes in the near term under Conte, barring another major injury to a starter. With Romero out, Rodon has managed to make it to the bench but not much else.

Aged twenty-four, what Rodon needs more than anything is minutes, and he simply is not getting them at Tottenham, for now, the second consecutive season. While he has a place in the Wales squad that is not forever nor is his future certain if he cannot play and improve.

Conte may have other plans, and we start to see Rodon get time, however, a loan seems more likely so he can get some minutes and experience but still be a recall away in a dire emergency.
